A brush fireplace has burned greater than 300 acres throughout Riverside County, prompting evacuation orders and highway closures.
The blaze, dubbed the Highland fireplace, was first reported at 12:37 p.m. close to Highlands Highway and Aguanga Ranchos Highway within the unincorporated neighborhood of Aguanga. Inside a couple of hours, the fireplace had reached 325 acres and was threatening constructions. Firefighters have made no progress at containment.
An evacuation order was issued for Aguanga residents north of Cottonwood Creek, south of Sage Highway and Golden Eagle Drive, west of Boulder Vista and east of Becker Lane.
